Corn Dog

Ingredients

Batter:

  • 1 ½ cups fine cornmeal
  • 1 ¼ cup A/P Flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 ¾ cup Milk or Coconut Milk
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • I tbsp Olive or Veg Oil
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional) I have done it with honey ( the coating is darker and sweeter)

 

  • 1 package of Sensible Hot Dog or Cheese Smokies.
  • Wooden Chop Sticks, as many as needed.

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients together. In a medium mixing bowl add all the wet ingredients together. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until there are no lumps. The batter will look and feel course due to the cornmeal.
  2. Pour batter into a juice jug, or a vessel you can dip the hot dog in.
  3. Insert the wooden chopstick carefully into the hot dog, until ¾ of the way.
  4. Dip the hot dog into the batter and twist the dog while continue to dunk, until it’s evenly coated. Let the access drain off. Dip the batter into the hot oil. Once the batter has set, let the corndog drop into the oil and cook until golden brown.
  5. Deep fry 350F 3-4 min.
